PET-FRIENDLY

The Dog Days of Summer

It’s hard leaving your furry family members at home when you travel. The good news is that you don’t have to when you visit the Art Coast. Want to bring your pooch along for a patio dining experience? No problem. Many of our breweries, wineries, and restaurants are happy to accommodate your fur baby on their patios and outdoor seating areas.  We’ve gathered a list of Saugatuck/Douglas dining and drinking establishments where you can roll up with your pup.

When grabbing a bite, the following restaurants have small outdoor areas that welcome furry friends: Back Alley Pizza Joint, Blue Star Cafe & Ice Cream Treats, Boardwalk Deli & Ice Cream, Farmhouse Deli & Pantry, Fresh Basil Café, Grilled Cheese ShackPhil’s Bar & Grille, and Pumpernickels.

Places that feature larger outdoor patios with pet-friendly tables for leashed dogs include Coastal Society, Pennyroyal Café & Provisions, Spectator's Bar and Grill, Wally’s Bar & Grill, and Wicks Park Bar & Grille. The Root Beer Barrel even offers free dog treats at the window if you ask. At Borrowed Time, you and your pooch can take a seat on the lawn or relax on their dog-friendly porch. Or indulge your pup with a relaxing waterfront view while you enjoy your meal at one of the outdoor tables at Coral Gables, the BARge, Mermaid Bar & Grill, or Scooters Café & Pizzeria.

For an extra special treat, be sure to bring your canine companion to Uncommon Coffee Roasters Café and Bakery, where they serve up Doggie Casseroles made with brown rice, organic chicken, and roasted veggies.

And don’t miss out on our incredible wineries, craft breweries, and cideries. When it’s time to take a sip, Crane’s Pie Pantry Restaurant & Winery, Fenn Valley Vineyards, Virtue Cider, Guardian Brewing Company, The Mitten Brewing Company, and Waypost Brewing Co. all welcome well-behaved, leashed dogs in their outdoor seating areas.

For the best experience at these establishments, be sure to feed Fido before you go, bring your own bowl for water, and keep your furry family member on-leash at all times.
