3. Quaint (but lively) Downtowns to Explore
The Saugatuck/Douglas region encompasses the downtowns of Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville, so there’s always something going on. Looking for a low-key evening? Walking through the towns’ tree-lined streets, alive with lights and decorations, you’ll find cute boutiques, shops and galleries nestled among unique restaurants and bars filled with others ready to celebrate. Looking for dancing? We’ve got that too – get your dance on at The Dunes Resort for their New Year’s Eve Celebration, or at one of our other bar/restaurants like Wicks Park Bar & Grille or Salt of the Earth, many of which are hosting live music!
4. Amazing Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries and Cideries
Saugatuck/Douglas is home to many breweries, distilleries, cideries and wineries, making our region a great place to sample craft beverages with friends. Spots like Saugatuck Brewing Company, Virtue Cider, Waypost Brewing Company, Fenn Valley Winery, Coppercraft Distillery, Mitten Brewing Company and many more have made Saugatuck/Douglas home, and with our local transit, the Interurban (it’s free on NYE), or services like Coastal Tours, you and your friends can safely hop from tasting room to tasting room for a fun and delicious tour.
One of our favorite Saugatuck/Douglas traditions is gathering downtown Saugatuck by the Coral Gables Docks to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks display at midnight! Watching this stunning display glisten over the Kalamazoo River is an experience you won’t forget, and is open to everyone!
