Saugatuck Featured on Cover of 2019 Pure Michigan Travel Guide

While Michigan’s winter wonderland is still in full swing, Pure Michigan is encouraging travelers to start thinking ahead to summer vacation with the release of the 2019 Official Pure Michigan Travel Guide. This free guide, available in both print and digital versions, highlights sights to see, intriguing places to go, and fun activities to experience for visitors and residents alike to explore all spring and summer long.

The 2019 guide, which features Saugatuck Harbor on the cover, was unveiled on Monday, February 25 at an open house and press conference at the Saugatuck/Douglas Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (SDACVB). Readers can also watch the cover image come alive simply by scanning the QR code on the cover with their smart phones.

“Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a veteran Michigan traveler, this travel guide is full of content to inform and inspire trips throughout Michigan,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “The print version of the new guide features stunning photographs and interesting features, and the convenient digital version utilizes cutting-edge augmented reality technology to enhance the traveler’s trip planning experience.”

Feature stories in the 2019 Official State Travel Guide include Visit with Ease to help travelers find accessible travel along trails and other attractions; It’s a Shore Thing, featuring unique experiences on the coasts of Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior; Go to the Dark Side, encouraging travelers to discover Michigan’s seven dark-sky parks; and Party of Few, spotlighting five charming small towns including Saugatuck.

“We are excited and honored to have the wonderful Saugatuck harbor featured on this year’s cover of the travel guide,” said SDAVCB Executive Director Josh Albrecht. “For the past 150 years Saugatuck and the communities of Douglas and Fennville have been welcoming people from all walks of life to our wonderful towns known for the arts, boutique shopping, amazing restaurants and, of course, or amazing Oval Beach and perfect boating along the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan.”
