Saugatuck Venetian Festival – A Summer Tradition

Every July, locals and visitors alike mark their calendars for Saugatuck Venetian Festival – a weekend-long festival of family-friendly fun in downtown Saugatuck. This year’s festivities will take place on July 26 & 27 at Coghlin Park.

Expect hula skirts, rhythmic dancing, ukulele music, Leis and more at this year’s festival, as the 2019 theme is “Polynesian Island Life,” celebrating the Polynesian triangle area of islands including the Hawaiian Islands, New Zealand and Easter Island. Check out the weekend’s schedule of events below:

Friday, July 26

5 – 11:30 p.m. – Concert, Food and Bar Tents Open – $5.00 cash per adult

7:15 – 11 p.m. – Dance to music from the 80s by Starfarm

Back by popular demand, this year will be the sixth year the group has returned to headline Friday night at Venetian Festival – don’t miss this fun evening of popular 80s music!

Saturday, July 27

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Village Square Art Fair

Stop by the Village Square (corner of Butler and Main Streets) and shop 150+ artists selling high quality and diverse works at this annual art fair hosted by the Saugatuck/Douglas Art Club.  This annual event supports local artists & their students with scholarship funding.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Registration for the Dinghy Poker Run

At the Gazebo in Coghlin Park. Entry Fee of $20 per dinghy. Online Registration is also available.

12 – 3 p.m. – Dinghy Poker Run

Jump-start the fun on Saturday with a rowdy dinghy poker run where boaters spray each other with squirt guns as they race to card stops along the Kalamazoo River to get the best poker hand! Starts and ends in Coghlin Park.

9 – 10 p.m. – Lighted Boat Parade

This lighted boat parade takes place in the Kalamazoo River. Boats will be decorated to promote the 2019 festival theme, “Polynesian Island Life.” Online registration is available for those who wish to participate!

10 p.m. – Fireworks over Lake Kalamazoo
