Description
THIS IS A 4-DAY WORKSHOP. In this workshop, participants will explore playful, layered image-making with Gelli plate monotypes, discovering how this press-free process can expand and energize their painting or printmaking practice. Techniques demonstrated will include mark-making, stencil use, masking, tool-making with everyday materials, and strategies for choosing papers to achieve different visual effects. The workshop will begin with an introduction to Gelli plates and basic monotype layering, followed by guided demos and a series of hands-on experiments. Participants will work through several short exercises and have open studio time to explore their own compositions.
Plan to bring: a Speedball water-based block printing ink set (link will be provided after registration), plus any additional papers or small household items you’d like to try as texture tools.
