Saugatuck Douglas Area CVB Announces New Social District for City of Douglas

SAUGATUCK, MI – MAY 28, 2021 – The Saugatuck Douglas Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (SDACVB) announced the launch of a new social district in downtown Douglas. The program, which begins today, May 28, allows visitors to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating bars and restaurants and enjoy them throughout the district’s common areas.

Just in time for a busy Memorial Day weekend, the new social district in Douglas operates from 11am – 11pm, seven days a week. Douglas has six eligible restaurants, bars and breweries within the boundaries of the social district that can participate. Beverages may only be enjoyed from designated containers that feature the Douglas Social District logo.

“The new social district in Douglas comes right on the heels of a successful run with the Saugatuck social district that recently ended in advance of this holiday weekend,” said Lisa Mize, Executive Director, Saugatuck Douglas Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to promote another unique offering in our area and we’re confident that this social district will be a great catalyst to increase visitation to all of the wonderful businesses within downtown Douglas.”

The first two restaurants to receive their permit and participate starting today are Everyday People Cafe and Borrowed Time. Retail shops within the social district will have the option of allowing people to bring their to-go drinks inside with a city-provided sign for their windows.
