Southwest Michigan Named One of the 20 Best Places to Go in 2020 by Condé Nast Traveler

Condé Nast Traveler has published their annual list of best places to visit in 2020, and we are honored to be included in the Southwest Michigan region, listed as one of the “20 Best Places to go in 2020.”

Each year, Condé Nast Traveler uses their vast network of writers and resources to compile this list of geographically diverse destinations that hits points of interest for each type of traveler.

Focusing on our rich agricultural heritage and our “laid-back” coastal town vibe, Condé Nast Traveler highlighted craft beverage makers and food-centric destinations in Fennville and Saugatuck. Writer, Nina Kokotas Hahn says:

“About 20 miles inland in Fennville, innovative beer, cider, and winemakers are also capitalizing on their prime location within Michigan’s Fruit Belt, where berries, grapes, and apples flourish in the lake-effect climate.”

Kokotas Hahn goes on to mention Virtue Cider’s “idyllic 28-acre farm,” Modales Wines “small-batch, estate-grown grapes,” Waypost Brewing Company’s “Farmhouse-inspired” beer and Pennyroyal Café & Provisions “harvest-driven menu.”

Here in Saugatuck/Douglas, you could truly plan your trip just around food and drink. But with more than 20 artist studios and galleries , specialty shops and boutiques and unique lodging options , our small town is truly a destination where there’s something for everyone.
