Telluride Comes to Town

If you’re starting to get cabin fever as winter winds down, there’s no better way to gear up for spring than by attending “Mountainfilm on Tour” in Saugatuck, happening March 22, 2025. It’s the only place in Michigan—and one of a handful of select cities across the country—where you can see documentaries from an event touted as one of the “25 Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker magazine.

Mountainfilm on Tour—the longest-running film festival in the country—returns to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (SCA), bringing a powerful lineup of award-winning short films straight from the world-renowned Telluride festival. It’s a weekend designed to lift your spirits—where inspiring stories, heart-pounding adventure, and breathtaking visuals take center stage.

Three Playlists, Three Unforgettable Journeys

This year’s selections are curated into three unique playlists, each offering its own emotional journey:

Big Green World: Step into awe-inspiring tales that celebrate our planet, from remote landscapes to cultural traditions rarely seen. These films explore the beauty of nature, the importance of conservation, and the connection between people and the wild places they call home. Perfect for those who crave inspiration from the great outdoors.

Indomitable Spirit: Prepare for heart-stopping moments and profoundly moving stories of resilience. This playlist highlights people who face overwhelming challenges yet refuse to give up—whether it’s daring physical feats or personal stories of strength and determination. Expect to leave feeling motivated and inspired.

The Medley: A little bit of everything—laugh-out-loud moments, tear-jerking tales, and thought-provoking narratives all rolled into one. This playlist delivers a dynamic mix of films designed to surprise, delight, and leave you intrigued long after the final credits.

A Feast For The Senses

In addition to viewing the films, join the SCA for a Happy Hour before the final screening to sample delicious film-inspired small plates crafted by Chef Mindy Trafman, a former SCA Creative Fellow. Keep the energy flowing as you mingle with fellow film lovers while enjoying live music and a cash bar. “This is the perfect way to kick off the big final screening,” says SCA Executive Director Kristin Armstrong. “We love creating spaces for people to connect and share experiences — whether you’re with friends or on your own!”
