12 Miles of Coastline.
6 Beautiful Beaches.

The Lake Michigan coastline is one of the most stunning places in the country, and we’re lucky to have 12 miles of its shoreline at our front door. Whatever your ideal beach day is, it can begin right here.

Your Guide To The Art Coast Beaches

Views are spectacular from sunrise to sunset. Travel light and rent beach chairs and umbrellas from one of our local shops, like In The Elements Rental in Saugatuck or Woosah in Douglas. Convenient beachside parking is available but can fill up fast in the summer, especially at Oval Beach, named one of Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 25 Beaches in the World.” Ride the Interurban to the beach for only $1 and avoid the hassle.

Saugatuck Dunes State Park

With 2.5 miles of secluded, undeveloped shoreline and towering wooded dunes reaching 200 feet in height, visitors to Saugatuck Dunes State Park will be in awe of the park’s pristine natural beauty. Explore four scenic trails offering stunning views of rolling dunes, lush forests, and captivating coastline. The park’s 300-acre Patty Birkholz Natural Area, home to a coastal dune system and three endangered plant species, is a favorite spot for nature enthusiasts.

Explore the Dunes

One of the quintessential Art Coast experiences, the Saugatuck Dune Rides offer an exhilarating and fun-filled open-roof excursion over Lake Michigan’s “living” sand dunes. Part nature tour, part comedy routine, and part history lesson, this 40-minute scenic ride takes you over rugged, private sand dunes, where you'll learn about local flora and fauna and the lost town of Singapore, Michigan's version of Pompeii.
