Holiday Magic That’s Totally Instagrammable

For those visiting during the holiday season, our towns’ annual events only add to the magic. The season begins with tree-lighting ceremonies in Saugatuck, Douglas, and Fennville, followed by the delightfully whimsical Saugatuck Whootville Christmas Parade, where Santa and a cast of colorful characters make their way through downtown. As the lights begin to twinkle downtown, the illuminated star on Mt. Baldhead shines brightly above the Kalamazoo River, presiding over the festivities from its place high above town.

Then the stage is set—quite literally—at the historic Saugatuck Women’s Club, where local performers bring Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to life each year. This beloved community production has been part of the holidays here for four decades, proving that some classics are simply too good to reinvent.
