Escape to the Art Coast® for a Goods Getaway
If you’re planning your next trip around purchasing unique items you can’t find anywhere else, visit the Art Coast for a “Goods Getaway.” While we may not have socially trending items like Dubai Chocolate, Saugatuck/Douglas offers a bounty of locally made gems that celebrate our creative culture and agricultural diversity. From pottery and blown glass to coffee, jewelry, and more, explore these shops and bring a piece of the Art Coast home to enjoy.

Artist Leslie Fitzell specializes in one-of-a-kind custom glass creations and specialty ornaments inspired by Saugatuck. Take your time strolling through The Laffing Glass Boutique, which will remind you of a colorful glass garden filled with flowers, birds, butterflies, and more.

James Brandess Studios and Gallery
The beauty of the local landscape comes to life in the paintings of James Brandess. His ever-growing collection is on display at his working studio and gallery in Saugatuck, where you can also find smaller prints, greeting cards, and other memorabilia inspired by his prolific work.

Celebrate the art of jewelry with a trip to this family-owned jeweler. Saugatuck’s Koorey Creations team works with the finest gemstones and materials, making heirloom pieces designed to be handed down through families for generations.

Inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics, ceramicist, glass blower, and metal worker Jeff Blandford loves using color and interesting shapes to make the world brighter and more fun. Pick up one of Blandford’s vibrant vases at his gallery in Saugatuck to add a spark of his bright imagination to your home.

For the coffee lovers out there, you won’t want to miss Uncommon Coffee Roasters in Saugatuck, a small-batch specialty coffee roaster that sells some of the tastiest coffee in the area. Along with your bag of beans, bring home a mug, beanie, or t-shirt from this playful shop.

This naturally inspired art and apparel brand features the artwork of founder and owner Rae Lang. The designs and drive behind Woosah revolve around woodcuts and the outdoors. Each design and product sold at their Douglas-based coffee shop, including prints, apparel, hats, and other accessories, is handcrafted in limited edition runs.

Mixed-media artist Ruth Crowe wants her art to be as accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why, when she opened her own studio and gallery space, she dedicated a large portion of it to cards, prints, and mementos that celebrate the history and culture of Douglas.

Artist Katie Doucette brings her signature aesthetic to this treasure trove of locally made goods, DIY craft kits, home decor, and self-care essentials. If you’re looking for uplifting gifts that embrace the beauty of the lakeshore, the Polka Dot Mitten is a must-visit.

This Fennville-based haven of soothing scents and luxurious products is nestled in the heart of a farm with over 1,000 lavender plants. Shop for locally made essential oils, skincare products, home fragrances, culinary delights, and more.

Evergreen Lane Creamery and Farm
If you’re up for a memorable adventure in the countryside, head down to Fennville to visit this working farm and creamery. Their delectable goat’s milk cheeses are available for purchase in their shop from mid-March through November.

Art Coast Wineries
No trip to the lakeshore is complete without a tour of our local wineries. Fennville, the state’s first American Viticultural Area, is known for fertile glacial soil and moderate temperatures—perfect for making classic European and European varietal wines. Check out Modales for their bottles of estate-grown red and white wines, Michigan Wine Company for their small batch wines and ciders, or Crane’s Winery, beloved for their tasty fruit wines. You’ll also want to visit Fenn Valley Vineyards & Winery to explore their 240-acre farm and take home one of many award-winning wines.
