About this Sculpture
- Artist: Zack Wallerius with help from Cynthia McKean
- Medium: Painted Aluminum
- Size: 60" x 60" x 128"
While attending Saugatuck High School Zack Wallerius won a competition to come up with a design for a sculpture made from steel.
This large scale project was created by Zack, supervised by Cynthia McKean and assisted by the SDHS metals teacher and students in the Industrial Arts Department.
Wallerius made a full-scale model which was used to make the three arms of the sculpture. He learned to use a torch to cut out the pierced areas and polished the edges with a group of fellow students
His friends kept asking about the meaning behind the three arms of the sculpture that looked like the number 7. Weary of explaining about form and design issues, Zack ultimately named the work, “Not Sevens.”
